Safety Worxs is seeking a Spanish/English Bilingual Safety Trainer local to Norfolk, VA to join our dynamic team in a roadway project.
Responsibilities:
The Safety Trainer will be responsible for developing and delivering training programs that ensure compliance with federal and state safety regulations. Duties include the following:
- Deliver safety orientation and onboarding training for new hires and subcontractors.
- Develop, schedule, and lead training sessions on topics including (but not limited to): Fall Protection
- Confined Space Entry (CSE)
- Excavation and Trenching
- Forklift and MEWP (Mobile Elevated Work Platforms)
- Silica Awareness
- Hazard Communication (HAZCOM)
- First Aid/CPR
- OSHA 10 and OSHA 30
- Maintain accurate training records and certifications in alignment with OSHA and company policy.
- Perform job site visits to conduct field-based training, safety coaching, and toolbox talks.
- Support the client representative in analyzing incident trends and identifying training needs.
- Ensure training materials are updated regularly and reflect current regulations and client standards.
- Assist in the development of job safety analysis (JSA) and site-specific safety plans.
- Partner with client representatives to schedule and prioritize training.
- Support audits and inspections by ensuring employee training documentation is current and accessible.
- Promote a positive safety culture by engaging employees at all levels
Qualifications:
- 5 years of safety training experience, preferably in construction or heavy civil environments
- Current OSHA 500 Certification
- Strong knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1926 standards and other applicable safety regulations.
- Experience with adult learning principles and hands-on training delivery.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) required.
Preferred:
- Current BCSP CIT (Certified Instructional Trainer)
- Local, no per diem for this role.
