Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team. This role is essential in providing support within a behavioral health setting, focusing on individuals with behavioral diagnosis. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of patient care, and behavioral therapy techniques. This position requires a commitment to maintaining confidentiality and adhering to HIPAA regulations while assisting in research data collection and implementation of applied behavior analysis strategies.
Responsibilities
- Provides ongoing monitoring and interactions with residents, assist educational staff as needed.
- Follows schedule per program guidelines.
- Provides daily assessments of resident's behavior via daily documentation requirements according to policy and standards
- Performs hand-off communication at shift change.
- Assists residents with personal care issues(bathing, using the toilet, and other personal hygiene issues), chores, outings, recreational activities and safety issues as needed.
- Provides training on basic living skills according to the resident's treatment goals, as identified by the treatment team.
- Demonstrates the ability to recognize the elements of a crisis state and knows how to deescalate or resolve the situation.
- Applies physical holds and restraints according to SafetyNet Policy and Procedures.
- Effectively collaborates with the treatment team members.
- Models appropriate behavior including but not limited to communication skills, grooming, manners, etc.
- Works with residents and staff to ensure dorm and campus cleanliness to include but is not limited to resident bedrooms, bathrooms, and all common areas.
- Demonstrates willingness to work with either Moderate or Intensive Program based on SafetyNet needs as directed by the Program Manager.
- Effectively demonstrates the application of child/adolescent specific competencies.
- Provides Basic Living Skills groups and other applicable groups as needed per program schedule.
- Punctuality
- Ability to work days, nights and weekends as assigned by manager
- Qualifications
- Experience in the social service or related field.
- Foster care experience.
- Direct-care service and/or customer service representative experience.
- Knowledge of psychiatric disorders in child and adolescents.
- Knowledge of growth and development as related to all intellectual, emotional, spiritual and physical aspects of the client's development.
- Knowledge of behavior management, crisis intervention and interventions common to Intensive and Moderate clients as well as of non-violent crisis intervention practices.
- Knowledge of family dynamics and parenting issues.
- Knowledge of effects and treatment of physical/sexual/emotional abuse and neglect issues.
- Knowledge of community resources as applied to the child/adolescent.
- Knowledge of educational methods appropriate to child and adolescent population.
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Driving Requirements for Emergency Transportation of Residents:
- Must be at least 25 years of age.
- Must possess a valid unencumbered Alabama driver's license.
- Must report any accident or driving violation, obtained after the start of employment to a program manager and HR employee.
- Must have proof of current liability insurance
