What are the responsibilities and job description for the Saw Operator/Deburr position at safetytechnology?
Role Purpose: Sets-up and operates metal-sawing machine to cut metal or plastic stock to dimensions and to trim edges of metal or plastic objects.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
Reads job order for specifications, such as material, type, and size of stock, and dimensions to be cut
Report times in software
Obtains and transfers stock to machine, manually or with lift truck
Installs saw blade and sets blade tension and cutting speed for specified operation; sets saw blade angle to obtain desired angle cuts, using wrench; sets stops and guides to control dimension of cut, using steel rule and wrenches; positions and secures stock against stops or in feeding device; turns valve to start flow of coolant against cutting area; starts machine and observes operation
Measures work for conformance to specifications, using rule
Marks identifying data on work piece.
Replaces defective cutting blade or wheel, using hand tools.
Maintain work area and stock shelves in orderly fashion
Utilize SyteLine to maintain running inventory
Receive materials from suppliers
Follow all safety rules
Monitor downstream operations to insure adequate material is ready for machining
Other duties as assigned
Other Significant Role Requirements:
Receive machine shop routers from supervisor
Put together router and prints, pulling prints from file cabinets
Review print and router to verify revision levels
Separate routers by department
Pull material listed on router
Measure and cut material to length
Cycle count material
Keep inventory in order
Put away casting in marked locations
Make arrangements to have chips emptied
Deburr parts when necessary
Including jumble deburr
Using air tools: i.e. die grinder D.A.
Sandblast
Language Skills:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as blueprints, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, routers, and procedure manuals.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Physical Demands:
Required to stand for extended periods of time
Occasionally required to bend (sandblasting)
Adequate dexterity for using various hand tools
Visual acuity to read directions and prints, and to inspect parts closely to ensure they meet specifications
Ability to communicate with co-workers and supervisors
Physical strength to lift and carry 35 pounds occasionally
Education and/or Experience:
3 years related experience and/or training
GED or High School Diploma
May be required to have experience with custom or production work or with particular material, product, size of work piece, or type or trade name of machine and be designated accordingly
Experience working with Excel and other software is required
