POSITION TITLE:
Product Engineer
POSITION SUMMARY: The Product Engineer is responsible for the overall design and layout of the current product line and for ensuring that the products perform correctly and follow industry and safety standards. Create and maintain product BOMs to ensure that finished products are constructed correctly and supplied with the correct components. Provide technical help and information to other departments as well as customers.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Calculates optimum spring and hardware combinations for all door configurations.
Design track and spring line layouts for custom applications.
Provide CAD drawings of door clearances and track layouts to architects and builders.
Create BOMs for new door configurations and correct existing BOMs.
Approve new components or materials to be used in constructing our product and its installation.
Evaluate current and new products to ensure that they meet or exceed DASMA standards.
Design custom door layouts based on customer requests.
Provide support to customer service as it relates to technical or product issues.
Maintain/create CAD drawings of vendor-supplied components and approve/monitor tolerances.
Provide technical support to the sales department and evaluate custom requests for approval.
Conduct wind load testing on specific models/sizes and specify specifications.
Other duties may be assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
Associate’s degree in mechanical engineering or design degree.
Knowledge of industry and market trends.
3-5 years
Good analytical and design skills.
Proficiency in CAD software and drafting practices.
Previous work experience in a mechanical field.
Quality-Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness.
Preferred:
AutoCAD
