What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lotman position at Safeway Transportation?
A Lotman is responsible for lot upkeep, related maintenance and the efficient operation and management of vehicle lots, ensuring optimal organization and cleanliness. This role oversees parking facilities, coordinates vehicle movements, and assists drivers with parking needs.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Maintains cleanliness and orderliness of parking lots, including sweeping, trash removal, and snow removal during inclement weather.
- Maintains vigilance over parked vehicles to prevent theft, vandalism, or unauthorized access, reporting any suspicious activity to management.
- Assists shop with vehicle jump-starts, tire changes, or other minor mechanical issues.
- Checks and fills the oil, antifreeze, power steering, transmission fluid, brake fluid, windshield washer fluid and belts on buses.
- Ensures that adequate supplies to perform checks are maintained at the fuel site.
- Communicates with the shop Lead Tech regarding supplies and oil inventory dispensed into equipment.
- Maintains the required inventory in the spill barrel and notifies the Lead Tech anytime supplies are used or replaced.
- n the event of a fuel spill, take all necessary steps to contain the spill. The Lead Tech must be notified immediately.
- Performs light interior and exterior maintenance on buses as required. This includes but is not limited to seat repair, and two-way radio replacement, jump starting buses and lamp replacement.
- Maintain lot upkeep and conduct inspection of parking lot. Identify and report any maintenance or repair needs.
- Picks up and delivers parts and buses as needed.
- Follows all safety standards and guidelines, including but not limited to wearing safety glasses, safety gloves as needed and proper attire.
- Performs other management requests or directives as requested.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- A Commercial Driver’s License is required. (We Train)
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse individuals.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and the capacity to handle challenging situations calmly and diplomatically.
- Flexibility to work variable hours, including evenings, weekends and holidays as needed.
- Ability to prioritize tasks.
Education and Experience:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
Physical Requirements:
- Physical stamina and dexterity to stand, walk, and perform manual tasks for extended periods. Knowledge of safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
