Job Title: Maintenance/Facility Supervisor
Reports to: Director of Support Operations
Supervises: Maintenance Staff
To maintain the physical school facilities in a condition of operating excellence, cleanliness, and safety, so that full educational use of them may be made at all times.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
- Inspects all school buildings, grounds and installations on a regular basis to determine that high standards of workmanship, cleanliness, safety and security are maintained. Confers with Principals regarding maintenance and custodial work.
- Establishes and implements procedures for the regular, ongoing maintenance and custodial care of all instructional areas, office facilities and grounds of the District.
- Must be physically fit to climb ladders, walk on roofs, walk grounds, manage/operate District equipment, perform manual labor as needed, and lift 50 lbs.
- Inspects and maintains fire alarm systems and fire extinguishers on a regularly scheduled basis. Maintain annual fire protection/covers reports.
- Coordinates District's grounds/turf management program (weed control, mowing, chemical application, etc.). Maintain pesticide records as required by the EDC.
- Coordinates cleaning methods and requirements, reviews new cleaning products and ensures training is given on the proper use and safe application of these products.
- Maintains District MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheets) books.
- Coordinates department purchase procedures, maintains audited inventories, and delivery to District facility sites.
- Manages District Key inventory.
- Coordinates facility preparation for all sporting events.
- Recruits, screens, interviews and recommends hiring/dismissal of department personnel in maintenance. Provides, or arranges for, the proper training of all maintenance workers to allow for proper fulfillment of one's duties/scope of work.
- Evaluates department staff and reviews documents with them.
- 24 hours on call for alarm management, vandalism, break-ins.
- Establishes and recommends priorities on repair projects.
- Estimates cost of repair projects in terms of labor, material, and overhead.
- Assigns and supervises crews of crafts people for performance of needed maintenance.
- Maintains an effective preventive maintenance program.
- Lays out and inspects work; assists crew members.
- Prepares, as needed, correspondence, spreadsheets, or reports for distribution to the community, parents/guardians of students, District staff, state/federal agencies, etc.
- Develops a system for efficiently dealing with emergency repair problems.
- Orders materials as needed; makes recommendations of supplies and equipment for purchase.
- Assigns work orders; checks drawings and plans.
- Consults with building Principals regarding the establishment of regular preventive maintenance programs.
- Maintains such personnel and other records as are required.
- Advises on the hiring of contractors to perform certain maintenance or repair service.
- Establishes and supervises summer cleaning and maintenance programs.
- Oversees the construction of new buildings. Works cooperatively with architect, contractor and Director of Support Operations.
- Prepares a written transportation update report for the monthly Governing Board meeting.
- Performs other duties as may be assigned by the Director of Support Operations.
