Special Ed. Parapro (SMS)

JOB DESCRIPTION :

Instructs small groups of students under direction of teacher.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

• Assists in tutoring individual students or small groups of students under the direction of the teacher.
• Monitors for appropriate behaviors and provides positive reinforcement for students.
• Assists the teacher in maintaining proper classroom control.
• Escorts students throughout the school day as needed.
• Supervises students during lunch and recesses.
• Remains punctual and works assigned schedule.
• Assists in special class presentations, field trips, and activities as requested.
• Bus Aides : To be able to assist students on / off bus and to pass the School Bus AIDE Physical Performance Test.
• Demonstrates confidential, professional, and personable demeanor.
• Handles routine clerical work as assigned.
• Prepares instructional materials as requested by the teacher.
• Follows and enforces school and District regulations and policies.
• Assists with daily living skills (e.g. student hygiene, toileting, feeding, wheelchair transfer).
• Administers achievement tests, including standardized tests as assigned, with appropriate training.
• Performs other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.
