What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part-Time Audio Production Director – Portland Media Group position at SAGA Communications?
Our production director is retiring in March after 32 years in the role. Now, Saga Communications’ Portland Media Group has an immediate opening for a multi-faceted audio professional to replace him at our eight-station cluster here in New England’s fourth largest media market. You’ll ply your craft in a studio that’s the envy of some major markets running Pro Tools DAW software. The primary studio is designed to be a post-production room capable of producing for radio as well as audio for video, jingles, audio books and longer form projects. The room runs Pro Tools Ultimate with an Avid C24 24 fader control surface, Mackie studio monitors, a Whisper Room isolation booth for voiceovers, and a Roland GW-8 keyboard. Mic selection includes Neumann TLM 103, U87, Shure KSM 32, Audio Engineering R84 and EV RE20s. Plugins include stock Pro Tools, complimented by plugins from Waves, iZotope, Fab Filter and Zynaptic. Studio and equipment are very clean and maintained by a finicky, full-time staff engineer.
Applicants should have professional experience with Avid Pro Tools software or be fundamentally skilled in regular use of a major DAW software package, such as Adobe Audition, Apple Logic, Presonus Studio One, Reaper, etc. with willingness to apply those techniques and skills to creating within the Pro Tools environment.
If selected, you’ll be privileged to work with a dedicated team of broadcast professionals who believe that what comes out the speakers is the foundation of everything else we do. No kidding. And you’ll be working for one of the most respected publicly held Radio groups in America, Saga Communications. Lest we forget, Portland, Maine is a cosmopolitan city replete with gourmet restaurants, a spectrum of live music venues, renowned healthcare and the limitless recreation our famous coastline has to offer.
Because you’ll be joining the best in the business, the ability to write and produce cinematic imaging and production is mandatory as is coaching up clients who voice their own commercials. Send a resume and production demo in complete confidence to Production Pro, Portland Media Group, 420 Western Avenue, South Portland, Maine 04106 or e-mail Productionpro@portlandmediagrp.com.
