We are seeking a Manager, Materials to oversee the procurement, inventory management, and supply chain functions supporting our laboratory-developed test (LDT) operations. This role is crucial to ensuring a seamless supply of reagents, consumables, and other laboratory materials for our regulated clinical laboratory. The Manager, Materials will lead a team that may include inventory management associates and purchasing associates, driving operational excellence and compliance within a CLIA-certified and CAP-accredited environment.

We are seeking a Manager, Materials to oversee the procurement, inventory management, and supply chain functions supporting our laboratory-developed test (LDT) operations. This role is crucial to ensuring a seamless supply of reagents, consumables, and other laboratory materials for our regulated clinical laboratory. The Manager, Materials will lead a team that may include inventory management associates and purchasing associates, driving operational excellence and compliance within a CLIA-certified and CAP-accredited environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Material & Inventory Management:
- Oversee inventory control processes to ensure the availability of critical laboratory supplies while minimizing waste and stockouts
- Develop and implement systems for tracking material usage and forecasting demand based on test volumes
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and quality requirements, including proper documentation and traceability of materials
- Procurement & Supplier Management:
- Manage purchasing activities, including vendor negotiations, supplier qualifications, and contract management
- Establish and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure competitive pricing, quality, and reliable delivery of laboratory materials
- Partner with finance and operations teams to develop and manage the materials budget effectively
- Operational Efficiency & Compliance:
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to materials management, reducing costs and increasing efficiency
- Ensure adherence to CLIA, CAP, NYS DoH, and other applicable regulatory standards
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including laboratory operations, quality, and regulatory affairs, to align material needs with business objectives
- Leadership & Team Development:
- Supervise and develop a team of inventory and purchasing associates, providing mentorship and performance management
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and operational excellence
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business administration, life sciences, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred
- 5 years of experience in materials management, supply chain, or procurement within a regulated laboratory, biotech, or healthcare setting
- Experience in an IVD, LDT, or clinical diagnostics company preferred
- Strong knowledge of inventory control systems, ERP/MRP systems, and procurement best practices
- Familiarity with CLIA, CAP, and other regulatory requirements impacting laboratory materials
- Proven leadership experience, with a track record of developing and managing high-performing teams
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills
