Senior Payroll Specialist

SAGA Diagnostics is a personalized cancer diagnostics and disease monitoring company focused on molecular genetic analysis of circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA). Our mission is to enhance precision cancer medicine and improve patient outcomes through innovative liquid biopsy testing services. We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Payroll Specialist to join our finance team.
The Senior Payroll Specialist will be responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll for our employees, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This role is crucial in maintaining our payroll systems and processes and serves as a point of contact for employee inquiries regarding payroll matters.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process bi-weekly payroll for all employees, ensuring accuracy in wage calculations, deductions, and reported hours.
- Ensure compliance with payroll regulations including federal, state, and local labor laws.
- Maintain and update employee records in the payroll system, including new hires, terminations, salary adjustments, and benefits enrollments.
- Coordinate with HR on employee changes to ensure accurate payroll processing.
- Handle employee queries related to payroll, providing exceptional customer service and timely responses.
- Prepare and submit required payroll tax filings and reports in a timely manner.
- Conduct regular audits of payroll data to identify discrepancies and ensure data integrity.
- Assist in year-end processing including W-2 preparation and reporting.
- Collaborate with finance to reconcile payroll accounts and ensure accurate reporting.
- Develop and maintain payroll procedures to enhance efficiency and compliance.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in payroll processing, with at least 2 years in a senior or specialized payroll role.
- Solid understanding of payroll regulations including federal, state, and local compliance.
- Proficient in payroll software (experience with ADP Workforce Now preferred) and MS Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work with complex data sets.
- Excellent communication skills with a customer service orientation.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and integrity.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred. Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation is a plus.
