Sage Catering, inc is a full-service upscale catering company specializing in both social and corporate events throughout the Bay Area. We’re known for exceptional food, warm service, and thoughtful execution—and we’re proud of the kind, talented team we’ve built.
We’re currently looking for a Lead On-Site Event Chef to work with us through the season.
Please note: This is a part-time, on-call position. Shifts are event-based and require someone who can manage their calendar, commit to dates well in advance, and reliably follow through.
The Ideal Candidate:
- Brings strong, confident cooking skills and professional experience that reflects their ability to lead and execute high-quality work.
- Has the ability to lead small to mid-sized teams in an event setting with clear direction and a calm presence.
- Is organized, efficient, and focused on quality, even in fast-paced or variable environments.
- Can oversee prep and execution at a range of events—from plated dinners to family-style service and high-volume pass.
- Understands the value of communication, flexibility, and collaboration in a team environment.
- Enjoys working with good people and contributing to a positive and professional atmosphere.

Location Note:
Lead shifts begin at our San Rafael kitchen, and it’s important that candidates are reasonably close by or have a clear plan for timely arrival. If your address isn’t nearby but the position still works for you, please include a quick note in your email to explain.
Pay:
- $35–$45/hour, depending on experience
- Many shifts, especially during our busy season, may run 8–12 hours
- Current opportunities include 1 to 3 shifts per week, with the potential for more as the season ramps up
