Our client is one of the largest private social welfare providers in the US, supporting individuals and families with critically-needed services for housing, disabilities, financial aid, job placement, immigration, and more.
They are seeking a highly-organized and detail oriented Senior Accountant to join their team in Oakland, California . Please note that this position is on-site 4 days per week.
In this role, you will be responsible for analyzing and spearheading financial activities while maintaining existing tools and the reporting system. Hands-on experience with grant management, accounting, and ERP software is recommended.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and reconciliations.
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP and non-profit accounting standards.
- Manage grant accounting and reporting, ensuring compliance with donor requirements and regulations.
- Assist in budget preparation, forecasting, and financial planning to support programmatic and organizational goals.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, external regulations, and tax-exempt requirements, including IRS Form 990 filings.
- Collaborate with auditors and prepare necessary documentation for annual audits and financial reviews.
- Provide financial insights and reports to senior management and program directors to support strategic decision-making.
- Implement and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard organizational assets and ensure financial integrity.
- Stay updated on changes in accounting standards, non-profit regulations, and best practices to enhance financial operations.
