Description

A faculty member of Sage Hill will utilize a wide range of expertise and depth of knowledge by using a strong pedagogical approach and effective assessment strategies in order to facilitate student learning. A faculty member will foster a supportive and responsive learning environment. Primary responsibilities include the following, but are not limited to:
- A full-time faculty member must be physically present in the classroom to teach five (5) sections
- Advise a group of students
- Commit to integrating the Six Cs into all facets of teaching and learning
- Contribute to Sage Center programming: Spring at Sage and Service Learning
- Attend all faculty/staff, department and Town Meetings, as well as all assemblies, school-wide events and Conference periods
- Coach or assistant coach one athletic season (Fall, Winter or Spring)
- Attend class retreats of assigned grade level team
- Support the greater school community, including but not limited to:
- Attend the annual Admission Open House in October
- Attend Advancement, athletic and arts events throughout the year
- Chaperone student events, per school guidelines
- Active participation on committees as assigned by the Director of Middle School
- Fulfill community support responsibilities as assigned
- Maintain professionalism in communication by promptly responding to emails and phone calls within 24 hours
- Remain current with Canvas guidelines and posting of grades per school guidelines
- Oversee, uphold and implement the expectations defined in the School Handbook
- Read and adhere to all policies and guidelines of the Employee and Academic Program Handbooks as well as the Standards for Exceptional Teaching at Sage Hill School (SETS)
- Authentically engage in self-reflection and professional growth
- Actively support the School’s commitment to diversity, equity and inclusivity
- Carry out duties as outlined in Exhibit A
- Interact respectfully and professionally with colleagues and parents
- Honor the confidentiality of the School
- All other duties as assigned by the Director of Middle School or other supervisor
All positions are 12-month, exempt, full-time and benefits eligible.
Salary range: $70,000 - $110,000 (Compensation is commensurate with years of teaching experience)
- B.A. or B.S. degree in appropriate field; M.A. or M.S. preferred
- Experience in independent school environment preferred
- Excellent collegiality, professionalism and organizational ability
- Superior oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work well with teenagers and their parents
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, use sound judgment and work independently
