Pay Schedule : Range 12 ($62.65-$76.68)
Work Schedule : 190 days / 11 months
Location : Onsite and Remote Office
Position Summary : The itinerant visually impaired teacher provides instruction and consultation at the elementary, middle, high school, and / or adult transition level to students who require remedial and specialized assistance in pre-academic, academic, social-emotional, behavioral, adaptive behavior, daily living, pre-vocational, college and career skill areas; and plan, develop, organize and implement comprehensive individualized education programs (IEPs) for students who are visually impaired.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES
Completes thorough initial evaluations, additional assessments, and eligibility evaluations that comply with school, state, and federal guidelines and develops legally compliant assessment reports and IEPsUses comprehensive assessment results to develop an appropriate IEP to accommodate the wide variety of individual needs of each studentConducts educational assessments related to students' access to the academic core curriculum and progress toward meeting instructional academic goalsProvides appropriate instruction both individually and in small groups and other special education supports to students whose needs have been identified in an IEP and others requested by a special education administratorDevelops, schedules, leads, and participates in the IEP meeting. Consults with various school staff members, parents, and outside service providers regarding student assessments, specialized instruction, accommodations and modifications, equipment, and behavior management techniques; coordinates IEP services as neededReview available medical / vision information pertaining to the student's performance and probable use of vision; obtain updated medical / visionl information and share with parent, teacher, and other appropriate staffDesign educational programs to meet individual learning needs within the least restrictive environmentMaintain records and reports, and complete frequent progress monitoring that is required by the school, state, and / or federal regulationsCommunicates effectively and works collaboratively with all other school personnel and parents while maintaining confidentiality at all timesParticipates in staff and program development related to the special methods and approaches of providing special education servicesAbility to service students in person and / or in-home, if necessaryMeets all IEP timelines and school deadlinesMaintain equipment and / or materials required for students, including ordering, inventorying, and issuing equipment and materialsIdentify and select suitable learning materials, equipment, and resourcesOther Duties
Responds to all school-related written correspondence, phone calls, voicemails, and emails within 24 business hoursServices students during normal business hours unless prior approval has been extended by the supervisorDocuments and reports to the school's management all formal disciplinary actions involving students; support management with addressing and resolving complaints from students and parents in a timely manner; ensuring compliance with the provisions of California Penal Code Section 11166 (Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act)Performs other duties as assignedQUALIFICATIONS GUIDE

Education :
A valid, current, and appropriate California Visually Impaired credential for teaching staff. A copy of the teaching credential is to be provided and kept current.Experience :
Two years of successful teaching experience in special education preferredOther Qualifications :
State and federal background clearance (LiveScan) to work with students (Ed. Code 44237)No prospective employee can report to work without this clearance being received and Human Resources notifying the immediate supervisor of this clearance
Proof of a clear TB test or completed tuberculosis risk assessment questionnaire and certificate of completion by a health care professional dated within the last 60 days (Ed. Code 49406 and AB 1667) upon employment and thereafter updated every four yearsKnowledge :
