Location : Onsite and Remote Office
Position Summary : The Senior Specialist, Employee Relations is responsible for maintaining, and enhancing processes to support a positive and compliant workplace environment. Under the supervision of the Senior Administrator, Employee Relations, this role ensures efficient management of performance management systems, leaves of absence process, and compliance initiatives. This role actively contributes to fostering a culture aligned with the school's mission, vision, and core values.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES
General Support
Manages offboarding processes, ensuring accuracy and keeping procedures up to dateEnsures proper documentation is collected, organized, and maintained in relevant systemsCompletes HR paperwork and documentation, such as employment verification, records, and attendance reportsKeeps leadership informed of potential issues and recommends solutions as appropriateDepartmental and Employee Performance Evaluation
Supports the development and maintenance of performance evaluation systems under the direction of the Senior AdministratorMaintains performance evaluation systems, tools and documentsMaintains and updates performance management trackers, including tracking deadlines for performance evaluations, and goal-setting processesSupports the school leadership with collecting staff evaluations and tracking completionEmployee and Labor Relations
Supports efforts to ensure the HR department and school are compliant within state and Federal employment laws through research, investigations, and learningPrepares and tracks employee relations metrics and reports, including turnover, retention, and dashboard numbers, for review by senior administrator of employee relationsAnalyzes employee relations metrics to identify trends and provides actionable recommendations to improve retention and engagementSupports in conducting workplace investigations, including gathering documentation, and preparing reportsDesigns and delivers training programs to enhance employee understanding of workplace policies and performance managementSupports with special projects and initiatives aimed at improving employee engagement, retention, and overall workplace cultureAssists with keeping HR manuals, policies, and trainings current and updatedMaintenance of the Human Resources Information System and School Databases
Assists with the maintenance of the school's HRISAssists with keeping all school systems current including auditing employment records as neededCreates and maintains staff work calendarsLeaves of Absence Support
Coordinates the administration of leaves of absence and accommodations, ensuring accurate documentation and timely communication while ensuring compliance with state and federal regulationsTracks and records leave and accommodations cases, ensuring accurate records are maintainedMonitors case deadlines, extensions, and updates to ensure processes are handled in a timely mannerResponds to general inquiries from school leadership and staff regarding the leaves of absence and accommodations processAssists with communication between employees, school leadership, and the Human Resources department to provide status updates and ensure all parties are informed throughout the leave and accommodation processesServes as a resource for the leave of absence process and informationEnsures legal compliance by staying updated on state and federal laws related to leaves of absence and workplace accommodations, and applying relevant changes to school policies and procedures as instructed by HR leadershipCompletes HR related paperwork and documentation, including but not limited to unemployment, verification of employment, etc.Tracks and maintains a comprehensive substitute teacher pool list independentlyOther Duties :
Responds to all school related written correspondence, phone calls, voicemails, and emails within 24 business hoursDocuments and refers all formal disciplinary actions involving students and staff to school management ensuring compliance with the school's Uniform Complaint Policy and the school's Uniform Technology Policy; addressing and resolving complaints from students, parents, and staff in a timely manner; and complying with the provisions of California Penal Code Section 11166 (Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act)Performs other duties as assignedQUALIFICATIONS GUIDE

Education & Experience :
Bachelor's degree or HR-related experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis (eg. substitute four years of experience for a bachelor's degree)Human Resources Certification Institute (HRCI) or Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM) HR professional certification preferredThree years of related human resources experience desiredA minimum of two successful years of experience conducting and facilitating leaves of absence and the accommodations process preferredOther Qualifications :
State and federal fingerprint clearance (LiveScan) to work with students (Ed. Code 44237). No prospective employee can report to work without this clearance being received and Human Resources notifying the immediate supervisor of this clearance.Proof of a clear TB test or signed Certificate of Completion dated within the last 60 days (Ed. Code 49406) upon employment and thereafter updated every four yearsHold and maintain a valid California Driver's License; proof of automobile insurance; and full time use of a dependable automobile that is insured pursuant to California regulations.Knowledge :
