Pay Schedule : Range 7 ($74,292 - $104,816)
- Newly hired teachers for the 2025 / 26 school year are eligible for up to 10 years of service credit (pending board approval)
Work Schedule : 190 days / 11 months
Location : Onsite and Remote Office
Position Summary : The special education teacher provides instruction at the elementary, middle, high school and / or adult transition level to students who require remedial and specialized assistance in pre-academic, academic, social emotional, behavioral, adaptive behavior, daily living, pre-vocational, college and career skill areas; and plans, develops, organizes and implements comprehensive individualized education programs (IEPs) for students with a variety of disabilities. School staff will rely on the special education teacher to provide consultation and educational services within the area of special education.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES
Case manages up to 26 studentsCompletes thorough initial evaluations, additional assessments and eligibility re-evaluations that comply with school, state, and federal guidelines and develop legally compliant assessment reports and IEPsUses comprehensive assessment results in develop an appropriate IEP to accommodate the wide variety of individual needs of each studentConducts educational assessments related to students' access to the academic core curriculum and progress towards meeting instructional academic goalsProvides appropriate instruction both individually and in small groups and other special education supports to students whose needs have been identified in an IEP and others requested by a special education administratorDevelops, schedules, leads, and participates in the IEP meetings Consults with various school staff members, parents, outside service providers regarding student assessments, specialized instruction, accommodations and modifications, and behavior management techniques; coordinates IEP services as neededMaintains records and reports, and complete frequent progress monitoring that are required by the school, state and / or federal regulationsDevelops positive relationships and rapport with all staff membersCommunicates effectively and works collaboratively with all other school personnel and parents while maintaining confidentiality at all timesParticipates in staff and program development related to the special methods and approaches of providing special education servicesProvides direct oversight for paraprofessionals as the credentialed teacherAttends and actively participates in regional meetingsServices students in-home, if necessaryProctoring duties as needed during the testing seasonServices students during normal business hours unless prior approval has been extended by supervisorOther Duties :
Responds to all school related communication within 24 business hoursDocuments and refers to the school's management all formal disciplinary actions involving students; supporting management with addressing and resolving complaints from students and parents in a timely manner; ensuring compliance with the provisions of California Penal Code Section 11166 (Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act)Performs other duties as assignedQUALIFICATIONS GUIDE

Education and Experience :
A valid, current, and appropriate California state Mild / Moderate Education Specialist credential with an autism added authorization for teaching staff. A copy of teaching credential to be provided and kept current.Two years of successful teaching experience in special education preferredOther Qualifications :
State and federal background clearance (LiveScan) to work with students (Ed. Code 44237)No prospective employee can report to work without this clearance being received and Human Resources notifying the immediate supervisor of this clearanceProof of a clear TB test or completed tuberculosis risk assessment questionnaire and certificate of completion by a health care professional dated within the last 60 days (Ed.
