Description
Operate powered industrial trucks to load and unload materials and deliveries and move them to and from storage areas, machines, loading docks, railroad cars, trailers or storage facilities.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Pick orders from inventory using a pick ticket provided by office personnel.
- Loading and unloading goods from vehicles such as reefer trailers and dry vans.
- Placing Finished Goods and Work in Process (WIP) pallets in the correct storage bays, following inventory control instructions.
- Communicate with Production team and Supervisors to resolve quality issues.
- Responsible for ensuring loads are secure on outbound trailers.
- Fill out Outbound Inspection Form prior to loading product onto a trailer.
- Prepare Bill of Lading for all outbound shipments.
- Perform daily equipment checks such as recharging the forklift’s battery and reporting any issues to Supervisor.
- Examine products to verify conformance to quality standards and report variances.
- Inspect the final product prior to loading onto a trailer.
- Assist with month end warehouse inventory.
- Rotate stock so oldest products are picked first (FIFO).
- Analyze production schedules to determine movement, deliveries, and material requirements.
- Dumping materials into machine hoppers.
- Assist with month end warehouse inventory.
- Ensure all incoming deliveries match the packing slip.
- Identify damages during receiving and prior to loading onto outbound trailers.
- Shrink wrap pallets to prepare them for shipping.
- Report and faulty equipment, damage to racks, or other potential safety hazards.
- Attend monthly Safety and Quality meetings.
- Adhere to GMP & PPE requirements and maintain a clean/safe work area.
Requirements (Minimum):
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Ability to drive a variety of forklift equipment (e.g., Stand-up forklifts).
- Good organization and attention to detail.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (Desired):
- Experience loading/unloading trailers.
- Ability to generate Bill of Lading and other required shipping documents.
- Basic, but strong math skills
- Basic computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite software.
- Ability to successfully interact with a variety of internal and external customers in a professional manner.
Physical Demands (Typical):
- Climb ladders, work on various plant levels, and stand on concrete floors for extended periods of time. Able to work extended shifts as needed. Required to enter data into computer and read small print. Able to occasionally lift 50 lbs. Able to wear required PPE.
Work Environment (Typical):
- Inside and outside plant environment; some inside office work. Exposed to moving lift equipment, extreme temperatures and moving machinery.
