The Senior Instructional Designer partners with Senior Director & Publisher, Content & Product, thought leaders, and Senior Learning Services Product Manager to create learning journeys for key content areas and develop materials suitable for use by Corwin consultants with the goal of providing cohesive long-term professional development solutions for educators. The person in this position is responsible for creating engaging learning materials in the form of workshops and other products for teachers, school leaders, coaches, and administrators utilizing instructional design theories and methods, and applying multimedia tools to develop effective training programs, ensuring the content aligns with identified learning needs as outlined in workshop or other product proposal(s).

Essential Job Functions And Responsibilities
- Collaborates with Senior Director and Publisher, Content & Product, thought leaders, and Senior Learning Services Product Manager to identify training needs and gaps within existing learning journeys and within newly published books by collaborating with forementioned to do the following:
- Understand learning objectives
- Identify format options/scope of service (Workshop, Certification, Institute, eCourse, etc.)
- Place developed content within content eco-system / learning journeys
- Collaborates with Senior Director & Publisher, Thought Leaders, Sales-SPLAs, Faculty members, and Senior Learning Services Product Manager and, utilizing client feedback, derives ideation plans.
- Leads development of assessment tools for learning journeys, identifying and partnering with appropriate assessment creators and collaborating to determine how it will be used by sales and faculty, and delivered to clients.
- Designs comprehensive workshops including learning outcomes, content outlines, and assessment strategies.
- Develops engaging learning materials such as presentations, eLearning modules, videos, and interactive activities.
- Partners with Corwin consultants onsite at schools to conduct Beta testing on newly developed products
- Works closely with authors and thought leaders to ensure the accuracy and relevance of product content.
- Applies instructional design models to structure learning experiences and optimize learner engagement.
- Monitors learner progress, gather feedback, and make necessary adjustments to improve product effectiveness.
- Strong understanding of instructional design principles and methodologies
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Creative thinking and ability to develop engaging learning activities
- Proficiency in authoring tools and LMS platforms
- Technical skills in multimedia development (video editing, graphic design)
- Project management skills to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects
- Analytical skills to evaluate learning outcomes and identify areas for improvement
- EDD or PhD in Education (or obtained within 6 months or hiring)
- Minimum 3 years teaching experience
- School administration experience or credentials
- Minimum 3 years’ school consulting experience
- Proven communication and collaboration skills
- Experience working with subject matter experts and authors to develop products that accurately reflect their work
- Experience working with various media types, including online courses, video, PowerPoint (or equivalent), and related media.
- Experience in and understanding of K12 professional development market
- Experience consulting with schools and districts and delivering full and half day workshops is preferred.
- Excellent skills in grammar, punctuation, and style.
- Computer skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat.
