Position Title: Inventory Specialist
Location: Channelview, TX
Role Overview:
The Inventory Specialist is responsible for plant purchasing and inventory control.
Major Responsibilities:
- Support procurement and accounts payable functions, including setting up vendors, creating purchase orders, and verifying items purchased and invoicing records.
- Obtain pricing for inventory items, create inventory labels, and place parts in correct bin locations.
- Sign for deliveries, unpack boxes, and verify contents match packing slips; file purchase orders as required.
- Maintain inventory control, including receiving, assigning locations, creating new part numbers, tracking materials/parts used, and facilitating cycle counts.
- Coordinate with the Administration Manager on inventory transactions, issues, or problems for monthly reporting.
- Manage and maintain inventory in Maximo, including entering PRs, processing POs, and resolving vendor order/invoice discrepancies.
- Organize warehouse inventory, manage obsolete parts removal, and plan/execution of cycle counts and year-end physical inventory events.
- Attend plant meetings as necessary to stay informed of activities and provide regular updates.
- Perform other tasks as requested by the Administrative Manager.
Qualifications:
- Required:
- 2 years of general office experience
- 1 year of warehouse experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Intermediate MS Office skills
- Ability to manage multiple assignments while meeting deadlines
- Desired:
- 1 year of accounts payable or general accounting experience
- 1 year of shipping and receiving experience
- Forklift and lift truck experience
Working Conditions:
- Exposure to outdoor environments, extreme weather conditions, and hazardous materials.
- Frequent use of protective equipment and proximity to high voltages and machinery.
- Physical requirements include walking, standing, climbing, lifting up to 50 lbs., and other tasks involving physical exertion.
- Extended working hours, including weekends, holidays, and "on-call" availability, may be required.
All plant employees must prioritize safety at all times. Employment is contingent on passing a physical examination, drug screening, and random post-employment drug tests.
