Position Overview
The Zoo Admissions Supervisor oversees the daily operation of the Admissions department, ensuring a smooth and welcoming entry experience for guests. This role supervises seasonal admissions associates, maintains accurate transaction and inventory processes, and supports guest services operations, special events, and interdepartmental collaboration. The Admissions Supervisor plays a key role in facilitating positive visitor interactions while upholding Zoo policies and operational standards. This position reports to the Guest Services Manager.
Guest Experience & Admissions Operations
- Facilitate a safe, fun, educational, and inclusive environment for visitors.
- Engage with visitors as part of daily operations.
- Understand SCZ rules for guests and employees and politely enforce them.
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with visitors, members, SCZ staff, volunteers, vendors, and other key individuals.
- Answer basic AZA-related questions regarding AZA, SSPs, and animal welfare.
- Ensure the daily operation of Zoo Admissions.
- Work scheduled hours, maintaining punctuality and commitment to responsibilities.
- Communicate with guests regarding daily events, keeping daily event boards updated.
- Ensure proper daily handling and raising of flags in the Zoo parking lot.
- Accurately handle cash, check, and credit card transactions for admissions and events using the designated point-of-sale (POS) system.
- Understand area SOPs, SCZ policies, and comply with state and federal regulations as directed by management.
- Maintain daily, weekly, and monthly records and checklists as indicated by SOP and supervisor.
Inventory and Supplies
- Monitors the inventory process for Admissions supplies.
- Track and maintain inventory of tickets, wristbands, and other daily supplies.
- Recommend supply purchases to the Guest Services Manager.
- Maintain accurate records of pricing and sales in the Altru system, the Zoo’s database for memberships, ticketing, and sales.
- Maintain the cleanliness, organization, and guest appeal of work areas, displays, and wagons.
- Ensure secure storage of Admissions booth cleaning supplies.
Leadership & Staff Support
- Support and supervise Zoo Admissions seasonal employees.
- Foster respect, teamwork, a cheerful outlook, a solution-oriented mindset, and strong communication among staff.
- Train seasonal Admissions staff on guest service, sales operations, and safety procedures.
- Prepare and supervise the Admissions employee schedule with Guest Services Manager approval.
- Provide feedback to the Guest Services Manager on staff performance and development.
Departmental & Event Support
- Support the Guest Services Manager on days off.
- Coordinate scheduling with other Seasonal Supervisors when needed.
- Follow protocols for employee or guest incidents and escalate issues appropriately.
- Seek support from the Zoo Management Team as necessary.
- Assist with special events by working designated areas, managing crowd control, and supporting event setup and takedown.
- Assist with checking in birthday parties, school groups, and special tours as needed.

Pay: From $15.50 per hour
Expected hours: 30 – 40 per week
Schedule:
- 8 hour shift
- Evenings as needed
- Weekends as needed
