Our paid time off accruals for annual and sick leave are as followed : 0-3 years of service = 2 hours of annual & sick per 40 hours worked; 3-9 years of service = 3 hours of annual & sick per 40 hours worked; 10 years or more of service = 4 hours of annual & sick per 40 hours worked. Plus you get 16 hours of personal time per calendar year (prorated based on your start date, resets every Jan.1). We also have Bereavement, Longevity, Fitness, and maternity / paternity leave. Full time team members are eligible for Medical, Dental, Vision, Flex spending accounts, Teladoc, life insurance, accidental death and Long term disability, Aflac, and 401K which SCIT matches up to 4%.Prescription plan with Free Fills on most generic brand when using the Cardinal Pharmacy.Position Summary : Under the supervision of Resident Care Manager, provide assistance to residents with tasks such as : transportation to and from medical appointments and assist resident during medical appointments, basic errands, light housekeeping and personal laundry. Assists and escorts residents with mobility limitations in transportation or ambulation to and from meals, activities, social events and during meals as necessary. All Andahwod staff must adhere to mandated reporting laws.Essential Duties and Responsibilities : Complete assigned tasks as directed by shift supervisor in a courteous, respectful and efficient manner.Operate household appliances to include dishwasher, microwave, range / oven, washer and dryer, vacuum cleaner as necessary to assist residents in daily living.Assist residents with, or perform personal laundry services, such as collecting, sorting, washing, drying, folding, hanging and storing laundered items.Assist residents with, or perform light housekeeping services in residential apartments to include : emptying waste containers; running service trays and tidying floor area.Transport residents to and from their appointments and activities using a program vehicle including operating a handicapped accessible van.Transport or escort residents to and from residential apartments, common areas of the facility, meals, activities and social events, both inside and outside the facility.Assist residents with appointment reminders at least one day prior to medical appointments and assist with scheduling appointments as needed.Assist residents to ambulate with or without assistive devices as directed.Assist with lifting, turning, moving and transferring residents to and from bed, wheelchair and / or vehicle, as needed, and assist with wheelchair mobility.Report any pertinent information to the LPN or Resident Care Manager after each medical appointment including discharge paperwork and follow up appointment times.Record appointment time, date and location in the scheduling book as necessary.Provide mealtime services to community members including tray set up, serving food and beverages, removing dishes and cleaning tables.Provide mealtime assistance to residents as necessary to meet the service needs of individual residents.Engage in meaningful, culturally competent activities with residents.Ensure residents rights upholding their dignity, and treating the resident fairly, with kindness and respect.Attend required training related to the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribal culture and providing culturally sensitive care.Observe, make note of, and communicate (orally, in writing, via e-mail, or through documentation in computerized records) to the Resident Care Manager via direct supervisor, any changes in residents behavior, capabilities, health status, demeanor, or expressed wishes regarding care services provided.Assist resident with companionship activities in an individual or group setting.Adhere to resident confidentiality and comply with department policies and federal regulations under the Privacy rules of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).Provide excellent customer service for all internal and external customers of the operations at all times. Provide solutions for customer concerns and continually focus on customer service as our top priority.Must maintain strict confidentiality and present a positive, professional demeanor and image at all times.The above duties and responsibilities are not an all-inclusive list but rather a general representation of the duties and responsibilities associated with this position. The duties and responsibilities will be subject to change based on organizational needs and / or deemed necessary by the supervisor.Contacts / Purpose of Contacts : Direct and frequent contact with residents, families, and guests and may encounter emotionally upset residents, family members, or visitors and must be able to handle difficult situations with patience, kindness, and respect.Contact with health professionals, staff, Elder Service Program, other departments and community resources that provide service to or for residents.Contact with health care providers during resident appointments to relay information the Resident Care Manager and shift nurse in a timely manner.Minimum Qualifications : Must be 18 years of age.Must be able to pass background check to meet the employment eligibility requirements as they pertain to the position.Desired Qualifications : Experience working with older adults.License, Certification, or Special Requirements : Must be able to obtain HIPAA certification within five business days from date of hire.Must have a valid Michigan Drivers License and must be able to obtain and maintain a Tribal Drivers License and qualify for coverage by SCIT auto liability insurance carrier.Native American preference shall apply to all positions.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities : Knowledge of applicable federal, state, county and local laws, regulations, and requirements.Knowledge of medical terminology and instruments.Skill in operating business computers and office machines, including Windows Office programs.Skill in the operation of vehicle or handicapped passenger vans with the ability to use the handicapped equipment located on van.Ability to comprehend and consistently follow oral and written directions regarding policies, procedures and the use of supplies and equipment.Ability to react quickly and make effective decisions in an emergency situation.Ability to interact and maintain good working relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds.Ability to communicate efficiently and effectively both verbally and in writing.Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.Ability to maintain quality, safety, and / or infection control standards.Physical Demands : Frequent use of hands, wrists, fingers associated with providing medical care and with computer equipment.Required to stand, sit and walk for extended periods of time.Frequently required to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, and reach with arms and hands.Normal visual acuity, ability to talk and hear.Occasionally lift and / or move up to 75 pounds.Work Environment : Assisted Living Center.Exposure to bodily fluids such as blood and saliva and / or the potential for needle sticks and / or skin puncture.Latex may be used in the office which can produce allergic reactions.Potential contact with chemicals and / or cleaning reagents utilized within the facility.Exposure to unpleasant odors, blood-borne pathogens, hazardous material and infectious disease.Extended hours and irregular shifts may be required.
