General Definition of Work:
Performs intermediate administrative support work administering basic vision screening tests to children from preschool
to high school.


Essential Functions:
• Administers basic vision screening tests to children from preschool to high school to identify those with deficiencies.

  • Prepares screening forms, classroom forms and other required paperwork for Hearing and Vision Program
Coordinator, parent of tested child, and school system.
  • Completes follow-up on all medical referrals including posting doctor's reports, phone calls, or remailing original
paperwork. May involve locating parents or guardian.
  • Schedules vision screening dates with school personnel.
  • Drives to various testing locations, carries equipment and supplies, sets up room for testing, sets up and tests
equipment, and coordinates with staff to gather children for testing.
  • Works in office filing, making up packets, and doing paperwork. Verifies insurance as needed.


Minimum Qualifications:
Education: High School Diploma or GED
Special Requirements:

✓ Be certified by State of Michigan in Vision Screening upon hire.
✓ Valid driver’s license in State of Michigan.
