ABOUT THE ROLE
Join Saginaw-Shiawassee Habitat for Humanity as a Construction Manager and lead the charge in building safe, affordable homes for our community. This full-time role offers you the chance to make a significant impact while growing your skills and career in a supportive environment.
You'll oversee all residential building projects, ensuring they're completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Reporting to the Executive Director, this role will require some evening and weekend work.
What You'll Do
· Construction Preparation: Identify potential building sites, develop construction plans, conduct environmental reviews, confirm utility availability and apply for necessary permits. You'll ensure that all plans align with Habitat standards and explore energy-efficient and green housing methods.
· Construction Management: Supervise and coordinate professional and volunteer construction personnel; develop schedules; and recruit, train and manage volunteer construction supervisors. You'll also work closely with community engagement to optimize volunteer involvement.
· Construction Procedure: Order inspections, oversee project completion, manage warranty work and conduct final walkthroughs with partner families. Attend special events and conferences as appropriate. Work with leaders to implement safety programs.
· Materials and Labor Procurement: Communicate with contractors, negotiate prices, and organize tools and trailers.
· Management of Information: Approve invoices, record in-kind gifts, and develop budgets in conjunction with the Finance Department.
· Additional Responsibilities: Prepare annual construction budgets and make informational presentations to various community groups. Provide timely reports and receipts to involved parties.

Required Skills
· Outstanding commitment to job safety
· Proven leadership and management abilities
· Excellent communication skills (written and spoken)
· Strong interpersonal skills; can work effectively as a team member with staff and volunteers from all races, faiths and backgrounds
· Effective use of Microsoft Word and Excel to develop budgets, complete reports, write letters, etc.
· Able to lift 40 pounds unassisted and perform physical tasks such as climbing ladders and bending
Eligibility Requirements
· High school diploma or equivalent
· Strong background in residential home construction (3 years in a high-responsibility residential construction role)
· Licensing / certification:
o Within 6 months of hire: Obtain a Residential Builders License
o Within 9 months of hire: Complete RRP Certification Training
o Within 12 months of hire: Complete OSHA or MIOSHA certification
· Hours and location:
o Able to work a varied schedule, including evenings and weekends
o Able to work at build locations in the Saginaw region, and at our headquarters in Saginaw, Michigan, as needed
o Able to attend conferences and special events as appropriate
o Valid driver’s license, good driving record, access to a reliable vehicle and cell phone
