Position Details
Summary :
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Lower Elementary Teacher to join our team at Sherwood Elementary School. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching Kindergarten students and providing them with a well-rounded education that fosters academic, social, and emotional growth that meets the unique and individual needs of all students.
Responsibilities :
Develop and implement lesson plans that align with the school curriculum and state standards
Create a positive and engaging classroom environment that promotes learning and student participation
Must possess knowledge and understanding of elementary school classroom management and organization, current best practices in the areas of language arts, math, science, and social studies teaching and learning
Knowledge and experience administering and using a variety of performance assessment tools
Assess student progress and provide feedback to students and parents / guardians
Use a variety of teaching strategies and techniques to accommodate different learning styles and abilities
Collaborate with other teachers and staff to plan and coordinate school-wide events and activities
Attend and participate in faculty meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and professional development opportunities
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student attendance, grades, and behavior
Communicate regularly with parents / guardians about student progress and any concerns
Knowledge and experience administering and using a variety of performance assessments
Regular in-person attendance required
Requirements :
Valid Michigan Elementary teaching certificate
May consider applicants who are willing to commit to obtaining certification
Strong knowledge of subject matter and teaching techniques
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of diverse learners
Strong organizational and time management skills
Passion for teaching and a commitment to student success
Preferred :
Minimum of 3 years of experience teaching in an elementary school setting
Compensation and Benefits :
Based on STEA CBA for the 2024-2025 School year, compensation starts at $45,138 Bachelors Degree, no previous experience; $52,825 Master Degree, no previous experience.
