Position Overview
Westdale Elementary School is seeking a full-time School Social Worker/Counselor to provide support and counseling services to students, families, and staff. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a school setting and possess strong communication and interpersonal skills. The School Social Worker provides social and emotional support services for students to enhance student learning. These services are not in conjunction with an IEP.
Primary Responsibilities
Based on STEA CBA for the 2024-2025 School year, compensation starts at $52,825 Master Degree, no previous experience.
Standard school employee benefits.
Pursuant to Public Act 68 of 1993 and Public Act 83 of 1995, selected new employees shall submit to fingerprints and a criminal background check at the employee's expense.

- Provide individual and group counseling services to students
- Collaborate with teachers and staff to identify and address student needs
- Conduct assessments and develop intervention plans for students with social, emotional, and behavioral issues.
- Provide crisis intervention and support to students and families.
- Facilitate parent education and support groups.
- Assist in the development and implementation of school-wide positive behavior interventions and supports.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of student progress and services provided.
- Participate in school-based and district-level meetings and professional development opportunities.
- Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, or related field
- State licensure or certification as a Social Worker or Counselor.
- Experience working in a school setting preferred.
- Knowledge of child development, behavior management, and counseling techniques.
- Ability to work collaboratively with staff, families, and community partners.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards of the profession.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Regular, in-person attendance is required.
