Job Description - Per Diem Mental Health Technician (Two shifts required monthly)
This is a per diem position, meaning you will be on call to cover shifts when employees call out, have scheduled time off or cannot work their shift. This position could definitely grow into a full time permanent position based on your performance.
The Mental Health Technician is responsible for providing daily care for adolescents in a residential psychiatric environment. The MHT will have direct interactions with residents throughout his/her shift, including, but not limited to the following:
Key Responsibilities:
- The MHT will interact directly with members, providing compassionate care and assisting with daily living needs.
- Responsible for providing services to residents under the general supervision of Site Manager
- Responsible for performing tasks that are within the scope of his/her educational preparation, knowledge, and permitted by the policies and procedures.
- Function as a member of the interdisciplinary team and assist with the coordination and provision of services
- Responsible for making observations regarding member physical condition, behavior and responses and reporting any significant changes to appropriate supervisor and other staff members
- Maintains appropriate documentation
- Assist members with Activities of Daily Living (ADL) and facilitate/teach independent living skills
- Utilize behavioral and physical techniques to prevent injury to patients and others and to ensure a safe and therapeutic environment for member; respond appropriately in crisis situations
Education/Licensure
- High School diploma or GED
Knowledge and Experience:
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to work as part of a team and to handle multiple tasks safely and effectively
- Good communication skills, including the ability to communicate sensitive information with empathy
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, this position is frequently required to do the following:
· Stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, and stand for sustained period of time
· Walk, push, pull, lift, carry objects from a lower to higher position or horizontally from position to position or otherwise move objects.
· Express or exchange ideas orally and potentially loudly, accurately, or quickly
· Lift up to 50 lbs, exert up to 100 lbs of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 lbs of force frequently.
· Minimum standards of visual acuity with or without correction.
Experience:
- Behavioral health: 1 year (Preferred)
License/Certification:
- Driver's License (Preferred)
- CPR Certification (Required upon hire)
