Overview
Sai Adolescent Residential Treatment Center is a program located in Northwest Reno. We treat adolescents for mental health/substance use/behavioral issues. Patients normally stay with us for up to 90 days.
We are seeking a dedicated Lead Mental Health Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with individuals with developmental disabilities and providing behavioral health support. We highly prefer to hire a Medical Assistant/Medication Technician who has experience working in the mental health field, preferably with teens.
Duties:
- Implement behavioral interventions as directed by the treatment team
- Assist in crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques
- Administer medications under the supervision of a licensed nurse or healthcare provider
- Conduct data collection and maintain accurate medical documentation
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure the well-being of patients
- Provide support in activities of daily living and personal care tasks
- Observation of clients’ behaviors, attitudes and statements
- Observation of clients’ motivation towards goals of treatment
- Use of compassionate and empathic communication with clients
- Ability to recognize risk factors for suicide and other dangerous behaviors and take appropriate actions according to your role.
- Understands when to refer clients to emergency services
- Responsible for performing tasks that are within the scope of his/her educational preparation, knowledge, and permitted by the policies and procedures.
- Function as a member of the interdisciplinary team and assist with the coordination and provision of services
- Responsible for making observations regarding member physical condition, behavior and responses and reporting any significant changes to appropriate supervisor and other staff members
- Maintains appropriate documentation for group therapy, general observations of behaviors
- Assist members with Activities of Daily Living (ADL) and facilitate/teach independent living skills
- Utilize behavioral and physical techniques to prevent injury to patients and others and to ensure a safe and therapeutic environment for member; respond appropriately in crisis situations

· Understands and asks sensitive questions to find out how these factors contribute to their mental/substance abuse/behavioral treatment
· Provides culturally sensitive treatment and services to clients
Supervision Duties:
· Responsible for scheduling for all MHT staff
· Responsible for staff coverage in the event of call offs, vacations, etc
· Responsible for new hire onboarding training for all MHT staff
· Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff
· Processes employee concerns and problems
o Provide staff member with grievance form; investigate complaint and coordinate with CEO for any actions that need to be implemented
· Meet with employees individually when problems/issues/challenges are identified
o Document the meeting with the problem/issues/challenges; discussion with employee and resolution and fax to Office Manager
· Creates, maintains and enforces monthly Environmental Checks schedules
o Reviews environmental checks on a weekly basis and writes a thorough analysis of any environmental findings for that week
· Ensures that shift schedule responsibilities are being completed daily
o Review weekly and provide report on findings
· Responsible for ensuring the house is stocked with all supplies and inventory needed , to include the organization of storage and weekly inventory.
· Responsible for monitoring daily MHT duties
o MHT groups
o MHT group documentation done each day
· Responsible for ensuring all staff are following protocols for a safe environment
· Works closely with Physicians, Nurses and CEO to ensure the clients’ and families’ needs are being met
· Provides weekly reports on any MHT related concerns and plans to address the issues
· Facilitates MONTHLY MHT staff meetings
o Provide meeting minutes and meeting agenda for each meeting
· Responsible for following all State and Federal guidelines
Requirements
- Knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities
- Familiarity with medical records and HIPAA regulations
- Proficiency in crisis intervention strategies
- Ability to perform medication administration tasks
- Strong skills in behavior management and data collection
- Understanding of behavioral health practices
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $22.00 - $24.00 per hour
