About SAI Gulf, LLC:
SAI Gulf specializes in the sampling and analysis of solid fuels such as coal, coke, and petroleum coke in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico region and samples over 45 million tons of dry bulk commodities annually.
SAI Gulf currently operates three testing laboratories fully equipped to provide sample preparation and analytical services for dry bulk fuel commodities.
About the role:
In this role you will contribute to the company’s success in a field position by collecting petroleum coke samples for laboratory analysis. Your duties will include manual and mechanical sampling and other miscellaneous sampling and inspection services. Work instructions will be followed to ensure consistent quality and safety standards are achieved. This position requires you to work over and near water and to access barges, ships, and other vessels. You will report to the Site Manager and be a part of the Operations department.
Responsibilities:
· Operation and maintenance of mechanical sampling systems as well as manual sampling
· Collect and label samples with identifying data, location of sample, date, and time of sample collection
· Ensure all paperwork related to sampling is completed properly and in a timely manner
· Preparation of samples, reduction and division of appropriate sizes to be delivered to laboratory for analysis
· Complete all safety and other training programs required by the company and terminal with satisfactory proficiency including application of Lock Out / Tag Out procedures
· Ensure all personal protective equipment (PPE), relevant for tasks, is worn at all times
· Comprehension of all safety hazards within the workplace such as but not limited to office, manual sampling, industrial equipment, inclement weather, working over or near water, and proper use of required personal safety equipment (PPE)
· Conduct all activities in line with internal standards, policies, and procedures
· Maintain regular communication with the Site Manager regarding job status, progress, problems, etc.
· Housekeeping of walkways, sampling systems, preparation equipment, and work area using cleaning tools including the use of compressed air and/or water
· Assess all risks prior to performing the task at hand and work in a safe manner, reporting any accidents, near misses, and incidents to the Site Manager
· Maintain awareness of current developments and conditions affecting the quality procedures
Location and commitments:
· Full-time hourly position with the primary location in Houston, Texas
· Position requires the incumbent to have a flexible schedule as rotation-based shift work including nights, weekends, and holidays will be required
· This position may require overtime and travel
· A commitment to quality service is a must
Technical and professional skills required:
Experience in a field sampling position is a plus
Experience with equipment maintenance, power tools, cleaning tools, and safety systems is a plus
· Ability to execute detailed written or oral instructions ensuring the end results are accurate and completed within the required timeframe
Ability to multi-task in a busy environment
· Read and write the English language, have legible handwriting, and be able to perform basic mathematics
Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally
· Ability to work independently

Additional requirements:
· Must be at least 21 years of age
· Must have a valid driver's license (for two years prior employment)
· Must have a clean driving record and the ability to drive a company vehicle
· Must have or be able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identity Credential (TWIC) card
· High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred
