The Director of Internal Audit plays a vital role in developing and implementing the internal audit function. This involves collaborating with senior management and the audit committee to assess and improve processes, internal controls, risk management, and governance. The position ensures regulatory compliance, identifies areas for improvement, and helps mitigate risks.
Main Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor the internal audit team to ensure high performance and professional growth.
- Design and execute audit plans, evaluating risks, assessing control effectiveness, and identifying opportunities for operational efficiencies and risk mitigation.
- Collaborate with senior management to identify key risks and control areas in support of business objectives and communicate audit results with clear recommendations.
- Evaluate and manage critical risks by promoting process improvements and monitoring remediation activities.
- Oversee Sarbanes Oxley control analyses, including root cause analysis, control failure identification, deficiency assessments, and remediation planning.
- Manage the triage and reporting processes for the ethics and compliance program.
- Work with external service providers to supplement the audit team as needed.
- Implement and oversee the enterprise risk management framework, including risk management software and systems.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field.
- 8 years of experience in audit, accounting, or a related field, including 5 years of management experience.
- Certified Public Accountant, Certified Internal Auditor, and/or Certified Information Systems Auditor certification.
- Deep understanding of auditing techniques, regulations, and industry standards.
- Able to maintain independence while building trusting relationships throughout the organization.
