Description
SAIC is looking for a skilled and experienced Journey Level CNC Machinist in Crane, IN to join our manufacturing team in support of the U.S. Navy.
Job duties include but may not be limited to
- Set up and operate CNC machines, including lathes and mills, to produce precision parts according to specifications.
- Interpret blueprints, sketches, and engineering drawings to determine dimensions and tolerances.
- Advanced level CNC programming of CNC machines using Mastercam and other programming languages.
- Perform routine maintenance on machines and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
- Inspect finished products for quality and adherence to specifications, using precision measuring tools such as micrometers and calipers.
- Make adjustments to machine settings as necessary to achieve desired results.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to all safety protocols and procedures.
- Collaborate with engineers and other team members to optimize machining processes and improve efficiency.
- Keep accurate records of production runs, including setup times, cycle times, and any issues encountered.
REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or certification in CNC machining or related field preferred.
- Must be able to obtain a Secret Clearance; Interim Secret needed to start
- Must be a U.S. citizen
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a CNC machinist, with journey-level proficiency.
- Proficient in operating and programming CNC machines, including lathes, mills, and other machining equipment.
- Strong knowledge of CNC programming languages, including Mastercam.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and engineering drawings.
- Experience with various types of CNC machines, including lathes and mills.
- Knowledge of CAD and Wire/Sinker EDM systems.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving skills and commitment to producing high-quality parts.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication skills and ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret level clearance.
