Job Summary: We are currently seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Engineering Technician III to join our talented team. In this role, you will perform assignments that are prescribed, selecting or adapting standard procedures or equipment using fully applicable precedents. You will receive initial instructions, equipment requirements, and advice from your supervisor or engineer as needed, and perform recurring work independently. Your work will be reviewed for technical adequacy and conformity with instructions. You will perform one or a combination of the following typical duties below.
Work is performed on site in Norfolk, VA and Virginia Beach, VA.

Key Responsibilities:
- Construct components, subunits, or simple models or adapt standard equipment; troubleshoot and correct malfunctions.
- Follow specific layout and scientific diagrams to construct and package devices and subunits of equipment.
- Conduct various tests or experiments which may require minor modifications in test setups or procedures as well as subjective judgments in measurement, selecting, preparing, and operating standard test equipment and recording test data.
- Extract and compile a variety of engineering data from field notes, manuals, lab reports, etc., processing data, identifying errors or inconsistencies, and selecting methods of data presentation.
- Assist in design modification by compiling data related to design, specifications, and materials that are pertinent to specific items of equipment or component parts.
- Develop information concerning previous operational failures and modifications and using judgment and initiative to recognize inconsistencies or gaps in data and seek sources to clarify information.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Associate Degree in Electronics, Electrical, Engineering Technology, or similar; and ten (10) years of practical experience in US Navy Electronics.
- Four (4) years of experience, to include: installation of such equipment.
- One (1) year of experience, to include: design, preparation and modification of engineering documents, and drawings.
- Four (4) years of experience with Navigation Systems, of which 2 must have been performed within the last 3 years.
Note: Experience may be concurrent. - Demonstrated communication and organizational skills.
Required Security Clearance:
- ship required.
- Must possess or be able to obtain a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance.
- Active Interim Secret or final Secret clearance is preferred.
