Description
SAIC is seeking an Engineering Technician for our Hanahan, SC location. This role is 100% on site.
The Engineering Technician:
- Will be primarily tasked with performing moderate to complex vehicle integration tasks to include cable routing, metal work installations, and technical support to integrate, install, modify, and perform upgrades in support of C5ISR systems.
- Provide occasional assistance to related support areas, including but not limited to kitting and warehouse operations.
- Read and follow integration documentation, written or verbal instructions, schematics, rough sketches, drawings and diagrams, layouts, and plans often requiring interpretation
- Be able to safely complete all of the physical demands of the job in a manufacturing environment, including but not limited to the following:
o Lifting, pulling, pushing and carrying up to 50 pounds, unassisted, on a regular basis.
o Walking, bending, stooping, sitting, standing or squatting for extended periods
o Walk distances of at least one-half mile daily.
o Repeatedly manipulating and handling tools needed for installing electronics and metal work into vehicles. Familiar with the use and operation of power tools is necessary
o Move and arrange heavy cable supplies and electronic equipment.
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or GED
- 10 years of practical experience to include: design, preparation and modification of engineering documents and drawings. Individual shall have notable experience performing one or a combination of the following duties: designs, develops, and constructs major units, devices, or equipment; conducts tests or experiments; analyzes results and redesigns or modifies equipment to improve performance; and reports results; from general guidelines and specifications (e.g., size or weight requirements), develops designs for equipment without critical performance requirements that are difficult to satisfy such as engine parts, research instruments, or special purpose circuitry.
OR
- Associates Degree in Engineering, Physical Science or Formal electronics Training from: Technical School, or Class A or B Military school in electronics or communications, or four year electronics apprentice program.
- 6 year of related experience doing any of the following: integration, manufacturing; or maintenance. Active DoD clearance accepted.
- Five (5) years of practical experience in C4ISR systems, C4ISR land-based vehicular platforms or related C4ISR systems/subsystems. Experience, to include: installation of such equipment. Three (3) year of experience, to include: design, preparation and modification of engineering documents, and drawings. Four (4) years of experience in task C4ISR systems, C4ISR land-based vehicular platforms or related C4ISR systems/subsystems, of which 3 must have been performed within the last 4 years. Experience may be achieved simultaneously.
