Job Duties
- Design and Analysis Develop mechanical designs for underwater systems utilizing CAD software and engineering analysis tools to optimize performance under high pressure conditions.
- Materials selection for underwater applications Choosing materials with high corrosion resistance and suitable mechanical properties for the harsh marine environment.
- System Integration Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to integrate mechanical components with electrical systems, software controls, and communication systems within underwater vehicles.
- Prototyping and Testing Oversee the fabrication of prototypes and conduct testing in laboratory or field environments to validate design performance and reliability under simulated underwater conditions.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND CLEARANCE
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, or related technical field.
- 4 years of experience as a Mechanical Engineer or similar role.
- Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, including fluid mechanics, stress analysis, and materials science.
- Experience with CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, NX) for design and modeling.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with diverse technical disciplines.
- Candidate must be a US Citizen able to obtain a DoD Secret security clearance; active DoD Interim Secret clearance or higher is desirable.
- Familiarity with offshore operations and underwater engineering practices and standards.
- Subsea instrumentation and sensors Knowledge of underwater sensors like pressure transducers, acoustic imaging systems, and environmental monitoring devices.
