What are the responsibilities and job description for the Food Runner position at SAILFISH POINT PROPERTY OWNERS AND COUNTRY CLUB ASSOCIATION, INC?
Position Summary: This position’s primary responsibility is delivering food from the kitchen area to the table. This position reports to the Restaurant Manager.
Major Responsibilities:
- Deliver food orders from the kitchen to customers’ tables rapidly and accurately
- Act as the contact point between Front of the House and Back of the House staff, trainer.
- Communicate food orders to chefs, paying attention to priorities and special requests (e.g. food allergies)
- Assist the wait staff with table setting by fetching and placing appropriate tableware, eating utensils and napkins
- Ensure food is served in accordance with safety standards (e.g. proper temperature)
- Check in with customers and take additional orders or refill water, as needed
- Answer guests’ questions about ingredients and menu items
- Moves tables and chairs into position for meal service or special function.
- Collects trashes, after each meal service, cleans front-of-house serving area.
- Setup/breakdown of buffets and table moving.
- Keep ice bins in service and bar areas filled.
- Collects soiled linen from dining room and delivers to linen pick up area.
- Assists with banquet set up and tear down.
- Helps maintain a fully stocked buffet/salad bar while maintaining that it is also clean & orderly.
- Assist servers with sorting and polishing of silverware and folding and rolling of linens.
Skills and Abilities:
- Prefer at least one year experience as a bus person at an upscale restaurant or club.
- Must be able to understand and speak enough English to understand and follow directions
- Understanding of hygiene and food safety rules
- Physical ability and stamina to carry heavy trays and stand for long hours
- Availability to work various shifts, including weekends
- Multi-tasking abilities
- Good oral communication skills
- Ability to remain calm and professional in a fast-paced work environment
Education/Training/Certificates/Licenses:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
