Pet Care Specialist

Our Pet Care Specialist position will be a part-time job to start with the potential of becoming full time as we take on more clients. This is not a contractor 1099 position and you will be a W-2 employee of Sailor's Dog Walking & Pet Care, LLC. We are looking for someone who can become a member of our family and help us complete our mission of individualized and one-of-a-kind pet care. The prospective employee will need to be hard-working, attentive, professional, reliable, and love pets. This position will fill our need for weekday services from the hours of 10am-2pm, as well as the potential for weekend services and overnights as needed. Depending on client scheduling you may work outside of those hours, and this position will be considered on-call. We will do our best to fill the employees designated schedule but pay will involve hours worked and there will be potential for additional hours during our busy season. We will provide as much notice as we can in advance of your scheduled services.

Responsibilities of this position will include service based pet care with attention to professionalism. Our clients depend on our services for the care and safety of their pets. Services provided by our specialists will include Dog Walks, Check-Ins, Cat Care, Day Visits, Specialty Services, and Overnight Care. There is potential for future services to also be included as we expand our service options. We do utilize a pet care software and prospective employees must have access to a mobile phone with cellular connection and be able to utilize our software appropriately. A valid driver's license and reliable vehicle is also required for this position. Criminal background checks will be conducted before receiving a job offer. We also offer a gas reimbursement program for expenses accrued between services.

Completion of an accredited high school or GED will be required. Transcripts and proof of diploma will be requested. If you are a senior in high school this requirement can be waived on a case-by-case basis. Prospective employees must have at least a year of experience with the pet care industry. Vet-techs, groomers, and trainers are highly recommended to put in for this position. Having experience with our Time to Pet software is a plus, but not required.

Our Pet Care Specialists will begin on a probationary period to ensure proper training and expectations are being met. This will be conducted as a performance based review and the period can be up to 6 months. After completion of the probationary period our specialist will receive a 6.3% raise with their hourly wage becoming $17/hr. Our raise structure will then be dependent on performance based metrics being met.

We will also be offering extra pay incentives for Holidays and Weekends. Overnight services will be paid per night and not as an hourly wage. Each Overnight service completed will be a payment of ($50/night). Overnight services will not be conducted until completion of the probationary period or approved by management of Sailor's Dog Walking & Pet Care.

Sailor's also offers some benefits including (5) paid days off a year equaling (20hrs). We will also be offering (3) paid sick leave days equaling (12hrs). These paid days off are structured for part-time work. If these positions become full time then the benefits will change accordingly. You will also keep all tips from your completed services.
