Saint Albert Catholic is a co-educational, child care center to high school located in Council Bluffs, Iowa, which offers so much more than just an exceptional education. It is the only school in southwest Iowa to offer a quality Catholic education for students from six weeks to college. Saint Albert Catholic has immediate openings for an Assistant Softball Coach who is passionate about advancing the mission of Catholic education through student participation in extra-curricular activities. The school has a solid athletic program with great community support. Our coaching staff works great together across all sports to encourage student athletes to be involved in multiple sports and activities.
The successful candidate(s) will be responsible for assisting the head coach with all aspects of the
school’s volleyball program, including :
- Instruct and supervise athletes regarding techniques, rules and safety practices of the sport during team practices and drills.
- Possess solid understanding of all skill positions of play and be able to help develop and teach players in those positions.
- Ability to develop a rapport with athletes, creating a positive and welcoming team environment that builds trust and encourages their progress.
- Supervise athletes during practices and competitions, both home and away.
- Plan, organize and administer coaching duties for sub-varsity levels of competition on match days.
- Provide assistance to head coach during varsity competition.
- Foster among the athletes and spectators an appreciation of the values of athletics, an attitude of good sportsmanship and a sense of pride in self, team, school and community.
- Support the goals and objectives of the school’s athletic program, adhering to all policies, procedures and decisions made by the head coach and other school administrators.
- Work collaboratively with the head coach, activities director and other administrative school personnel to promote the athletic programs for purposes of increasing interest and participation.
- Promote the volleyball program in a positive manner, setting an example of the highest ethical and moral conduct including respecting and supporting contest officials.
- Accompany and supervise students during all athletic competitions.
- Ensure fields and equipment (set-up & breakdown) are adequately prepared for both practice and game days.
- Help maintain training equipment.
- Assist head coach with development of on and offseason training sessions.
- Perform and / or assist with miscellaneous duties as assigned.
