Summary:
The nurse manager allocates available resources for efficient and effective peri-operative

care provides input into patient care services decisions and keeps staff informed of

management and hospital wide activities. The manager has 24-hour accountability for the

day to day operations of the operating room and is responsible for the implementation of

hospital philosophy goals and standards for the Operating Room. Additional areas of

responsibility include: patient satisfaction physician satisfaction clinical practice patient

safety and quality outcomes human resource management professional development and

performance improvement.

KEY RESPO

Responsibilities:
Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients families visitors and

fellow employees to ensure a professional responsible and courteous environment.

1. Commits to recognize and respect cultural diversity for all customers (internal and external).

2. Communicates effectively with internal and external customers with respect of differences

in cultures values beliefs and ages utilizing interpreters when needed

Assist Administrator with capital budget

Conserves organizational resources by maximizing asset utilization and developing and

implementing cost saving measures.

Manages and utilizes personnel effectively to achieve proper staffing and optimum resource

management.

Oversees the SPD department and making sure the staff is competent at High Level

Disinfection and are properly trained.

Monitors turnover overtime and absenteeism

Completes Payroll in Kronos in a timely manner

Maintains QA documentation as assigned

Identifies problems gathers information selects course of action makes timely decisions and

notifies all parties involved.

Fosters staff involvement in the department by delegating responsibility appropriately.

Maintains control over areas of responsibility and monitors progress of delegated work.

Initiates change by generating ideas and solutions.

Establishes long and short term plans to meet future needs.

Monitors plans and adheres to schedule.

Sets goals that are attainable measurable realistic and are congruent with the Hospitals and Steward Health Care Systems strategic plan mission statements and service values. Includes staff in department goal setting. Fosters Performance Improvement Process and encourages committee participation by staff. Participates in and manages performance improvement initiative in own and other areas. Upholds the mission and philosophy of Saint Annes Hospital and Steward Health Care and holds employees accountable for the same. Researching Policies using MCN Maintains compliance with all education on an annual basis via Steward University Performs other duties as assigned. Participates in hospital committees

Demonstrated clinical competence in area of OR nursing practice.

Understanding of contemporary nursing practice and health care delivery systems.

Leadership ability with effective communication motivational and critical thinking

skills.

Ability to work independently

Other information:
Education: Associates degree or diploma from an accredited school of nursing. BSN

preferred.

II. Experience: 1-3 years OR management experience preferred.

III. Certification/Licensure: MA RN license. BLS and ACLS. Current membership in

professional organization preferred CNOR preferred

IV. Software/Hardware: Meditech Athena Provation experience a plus
