Job Description
The Director of Alumni Affairs is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive Alumni Relations program designed to increase alumni engagement and support of the university's strategic plan. The Director will build stronger ties among alumni and the university, accomplished by a wide variety of programming and direction to the National Alumni Association and Board of Trustees, regional alumni chapters and other volunteer leaders. The goals of alumni affairs are directly tied to Advancement and Institutional goals. Successful alumni relations and lifelong engagement will be partially measured through increased support of the Saint Augustine's Endowment Fund, goals around donor participation and retention, participation of leadership volunteers, and increased on-campus presence attributed to alumni programs and outreach.
Duties / Responsibilities :
- Coordinates alumni programs along with the national alumni association president resulting in the involvement of alumni in the development, planning, implementation and management of comprehensive chapter programs.
- Works with the national alumni association in developing strategies and oversight for alumni affinity groups.
- Enlists, engages, and trains teams of volunteers committed to building a successful alumni association.
- Assists with the coordination of alumni association programs, including but not limited to, events, activities, fundraising opportunities, and various alumni recognition.
- Provides leadership for various communication programs for alumni such as quarterly e-newsletters and work with the Director of Development in establishing relationships with potential major donors.
- Sustains a current and viable contact management system.
- Plans events to promote continued partnerships and outreach to the alumni community.
- Sustains and grows attendance and engagement through regional and national alumni events.
- Collaborates externally with alumni, promoters, donors, other universities and others in the hospitality industry.
- Oversees all alumni activities and communications.
- Develops and maintains listing of alumni and donors.
- Provides metrics related to alumni, activites, donors and donations.
- Creates innovation in donation efforts that may result in new technologies or processes.
- Serves as liaison to the National Alumni Association and the Saint Augustine's University Young Alumni Council.
- Attends various alumni chapter meetings and events and provides support as needed. Assists in fund raising events.
- Manages a process for ongoing alumni class reunions which includes Homecomining and other events.
- Works to turn prospects into donors
- Facilitates ongoing, consistent, professional communications between the University and its alumni including the leadership and memberships of Saint Augustine's University Alumni Association and serve as a conduit for alumni communications.
- Serves as advisor to the Saint Augustine's University Pre-Alumni Council.
- Serve as advisor to the UNCF Student Ambassadors for Saint Augustine's University.
- Performs other duties as required.

SAU was established in 1867 in Raleigh, NC by the Episcopal Diocese of North Carolina. Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and minimum of 3 years related experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced degree and experience in a higher education alumni affairs environment preferred.
Physical Demands
Must have the ability to occasionally work evenings and weekends, as well as some travel. Must be able to lift and carry equipment and materials for alumni and campus event set-up. Requires sitting, stooping, bending, and some lifting up to 20 lbs.
