Junior Sailing Instructor
Reports Structure
The Junior Instructor reports directly to the Lead Junior Instructor.
Description
A Junior Instructor has at least one year of sailing experience with SCSS. In this role, an individual works with Sailing Instructors to assist in shoreside and on-the-water drills.
Responsibilities
- Assists Sailing Instructors in daily activities (safety, rigging, assisting sailors, etc)
- Acts as a positive role model for students, teaching basic sailing maneuvers and boat handling skills
- Assists in boat maintenance and repair, stressing the importance of equipment maintenance and general seamanship.
- Encourages others in daily set up/clean up, attending to sailors, reporting to supervisor, following directions
- Any additional tasks as assigned
Qualifications
- 14 years old
- Must obtain valid work permit
- Strong swimming skills
- WI Safe Boating Certificate
- Willingness to pursue Level 1 Sailing Instructor Certification
- Participate in Mandatory instructor training sessions
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Seasonal
Pay: $12.00 - $16.00 per hour
Expected hours: 15 – 40 per week
Schedule:
- Day shift
- Evenings as needed
- Evening shift
- Monday to Friday
