Cleans School facilities to provide an impeccable safe, clean, and healthy work / learning environment. Assists with other facilities maintenance requirements as necessary
General Responsibilities
Sweep, mop, scrub, polish, and vacuum floors, hallways, stairs, classrooms, and offices.
Clean light fixtures, ceilings, and vents, wall, furniture, windows, and window coverings.
Clean restrooms and restock paper and soap supplies.
Inform Supervisor when routine maintenance and service is need on custodial equipment for function and safety
concerns.
Empty trash receptacles, clean containers as required, and bag trash for proper disposal.
Shampoo and clean carpets and buff and polish floors which will require the use of mechanical equipment.
May be required to drive a golf cart or other School vehicles.
Perform set-up and break-down for a variety of School events. Move furniture and other items, set-up tables, chairs,
table clothes, coolers, etc. unassisted, if required.
Lock doors after cleaning areas.
Must adhere to work schedule and attendance requirements as assigned by Supervisor.
Ensure proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promote continuous improvement of
workplace safety and environmental practices.
May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Job Qualifications:
General Qualifications/Skill:
High School diploma, GED or equivalent experience preferred.
Required to have valid drivers license for operation of School vehicles.
Must have access to reliable transportation.
Basic computer knowledge is preferred.
Previous experience is preferred.
Must be able to work independently as well as assisting others in a cohesive team environment.
Ability to read English instructions and work-orders; understand verbal instructions; read, understand, and follow safety procedures.
Ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects, operate vacuums, and other related equipment (see physical requirements for weight criteria).
Able to safely use cleaning equipment and supplies.
Ability to climb and use a ladder as required to complete duties.
Must be able to have flexibility in work hours, as well as be able to work nights, weekends, and some holidays."
Physical Requirements:
Close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus, with or without corrective lenses.
Significant walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing throughout the day.
Ability to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 8 hours).
Ability to frequently lift, push, pull, and move up to 60 pounds; may involve overhead lifting.
Working Conditions:
Generally, work is in an indoor setting; however, may participate in outside activities and events.
Work intermittently in outside weather conditions, including extreme heat.
Varying schedule to include evenings, holidays, weekends, and extended hours as the School requires.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Wears protective clothing and/or Personal Protective Equipment required by the work environment or governmental regulations.
Will be exposed to various cleaning chemicals.
