Job Summary : Responsible for performance of ultrasound procedures in at least one of the following : abdominal, obstetrics and gynecology, adult or pediatric echocardiography or peripheral vascular ultrasound. The Graduate Ultrasound Technologist is an interim position between graduation from an accredited ultrasound program and employment as a Technologist, Ultrasound. The Grad. UT must take and pass the licensing exam, becoming registered within one (1) year of employment.
Minimum Education : Completion of an accredited Technical Ultrasound Program.
Licensure, Registration and / or Certification : Registry eligibility. CPR Certification. The Graduate Ultrasound Technologist is an interim position between graduation from an accredited ultrasound program and employment as a Technologist, Ultrasound. The graduate must take and pass the licensing exam, becoming registered within one (1) year of employment.
Work Experience : 6 months related experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities : Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Access as might be used in the preparation of correspondence / reports. Effective interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills. Ability to organize / prioritize work in an effective and efficient manner. Ability to perform basic ultrasound procedures.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities : Exercises appropriate judgment, efficiency, and correct technique in the performance of ultrasound imaging. Maintains proper documentation of data according to departmental and hospital policy / protocols. Supports unit / hospital goals through QA and educational activities. Collaborates effectively with patients, family, physicians, and other members of the healthcare team. Complies with all departmental and hospital policies.
Decision Making : Independent judgment in planning sequence of operations and making minor decisions in a complex technical or professional field.
Working Relationships : Works directly with patients and / or customers. Works with internal customers via telephone or face to face interaction. Works with external customers via telephone or face to face interaction. Works with other healthcare professionals and staff.
