Pay range: Salary Range:  Low  $54,162 per year    High  $59,578 per year  

Hourly Range:  Low  $26.04 per year    High  $28.64 per year 


Schedule: Full time 8 hour per day, Monday – Friday between the hours of 7:00 am – 3:00 pm. Weekend, evening and holiday schedule hours may be required. May also be required to provide shift staff coverage in absence of other available staff with approval of manager. Work hours may change based on the needs of the program/department and/or agency. 


Job Summary: The Clothing Program Supervisor (CPS) is an essential role within the day shelter at SFH. The CPS is responsible for the daily operations and oversight of the Fresh Threads clothing program, which serves around 60 unique individuals per day. The CPS, in collaboration with the Manager of Guest Services, works to ensure effective and efficient clothing distribution. The CPS oversees staff and volunteers, collaborates with other departments, and communicates with donors.  



Essential duties / responsibilities:   

  • All the duties and responsibilities are performed while:  
  • Fostering a physically and psychologically safe environment by communicating calmly and effectively with staff.  
  • Using good judgment and applying de-escalation techniques as necessary during a crisis or dealing with an agitated guest. 
  • Setting and modeling a positive, collaborative, professional, and respectful tone on the floor. 
  • Modeling clear and appropriate professional boundaries and adherence to procedures and guidelines.  
  • Ensuring the distribution of clothing to guests happens    in a   dignified and respectful way. 
  • Works collaboratively with the Development Department regarding clothing donations from their donors and media coverage of the Clothing Department. This includes giving tours of the department and providing media and donors with information about the clothing department when needed. 
  • Works collaborative with the Behavioral Health Department and other departments to meet clothing needs of guests. 
  • Works closely and collaboratively with Volunteer Services Coordinator to ensure necessary volunteer coverage, and a positive experience for volunteers within the Clothing Program. Provides clothing program-specific orientation and training to volunteers. 
  • Works collaboratively with the Human Resources Department and other leadership to screen, interview, hire and onboard new staff. 
  • Provides on-the-ground direction and training, one-on-one and group supervision, support, guidance and accountability to staff and volunteers in conjunction with the Guest Services Manager. 
  • In collaboration with the Manager of Guest Services, develops and implements policies and procedures pertaining to both guest-related clothing distribution and the proper use of the SFH van. 
  • Schedules, deploys and supervises staff to meet program goals. 
  • Oversees all day-to-day operations of the Clothing Department including reception, sorting, storage, inventory, and distribution of donations to guests, and regular and efficient outflow of unusable items. 
  • Ensures the reception, sorting, and storing areas are organized and neat, and the   distribution area is fully stocked to meet daily distribution needs. 
  • Makes projections for seasonal and other time-sensitive clothing needs to ensure an adequate and appropriate clothing inventory.  
  • Purchases new clothing items as needed, and as cost effectively as possible, and works in collaboration with Leadership in the department to manage budget. 
  • Maintains positive relationships with clothing donors and develops new relationships through outreach efforts.  
  • Responds promptly to donors’ emails and calls, solicits donations, coordinates pickups and drop-offs, and clothing drives.  
  • Collects necessary data pertaining to clothing services and maintains the designated database; completes required reports and submits them in a timely manner. 
  • Acts as the liaison for guests and volunteers conducting community service activities to ensure consistency and accurate documentation and adherence to safety.  
  • Performs other duties as assigned. 
  • Adheres to agency code of conduct.? 

Requirements

 

Required Skills & Abilities: 

  • Basic understanding of and commitment to taking a person-centered, recovery-oriented, and trauma-informed approach. 
  • Desire to work with the homeless population in a fast paced and low threshold environment. 
  • Ability to communicate calmly and effectively with agitated guests and to use good judgement and de-escalation techniques during a crisis. 
  • Ability to make connections and build relationships with people from a variety of backgrounds.  
  • Ability to lead teams of employees and volunteers who have different levels of experience and knowledge. 
  • Excellent leadership skills with a hands-on, lead-by-example work style. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 
  • Ability to make decisions on the spot in circumstances that are frequently evolving. 
  • Ability to model appropriate boundaries with guests and staff. 
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. 
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail. 
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines. 
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software; other database software(s), such as HMIS- Clarity, a plus.  
  • Ability and willingness to drive agency van for donation pick up and drop off, as needed. 
  • Proficiency in English; Spanish a plus. 
  • Drive SFH van when necessary. 


Education & Experiences: 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.  
  • Experience supervising personnel. 
  • Further education in human services related field a plus.  
  • Experience in human services that serve vulnerable and homeless population. 
  • Experience working with adult homeless population preferred. 
  • Driver's license in good standing required. 
  • Retail/Warehouse experience, a plus. 
  • Experience with inventory software and management a plus. 
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook) and client database programs required. 
  • Lived experience with homelessness or recovery a plus.
