About the Position:
Saint Ignatius High School, a highly successful Jesuit college preparatory school for boys in Cleveland, Ohio, is seeking an exceptional long-term substitute in English for the remainder of the 2024-25 school year. Experience teaching college prep is a plus. In addition to planning for and teaching sections of English I and English IV, the preferred candidate will lead one section of advisory and have a proctoring duty.

Primary Areas of Responsibility:
- Plan for and teach a combination of freshman English I and senior English IV classes.
- Guide high-impact, college-preparatory learning activities that align with our school standards and mission.
- Create and maintain a classroom environment with fair and consistent standards in all areas--including content and assessments as well as interpersonal relationships and behavior.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree with a major in English or similar; Master’s degree is preferred.
- Experience teaching in a high school classroom setting. Familiarity with Catholic, Jesuit education is a plus.
- Current Ohio teaching license in AYA Integrated Integrated Language Arts preferred.
- Current Long-term Substitute License or eligibility to obtain required.

Saint Ignatius High School, which opened its doors September 6, 1886, is a Jesuit college-preparatory school. The school enrolls more than 1,400 young men who hail from 96 cities in a nine-county region.
Academically, Saint Ignatius is a regional and state leader in National Merit finalists. To challenge students and prepare them for college, the Saint Ignatius curriculum offers 21 Advanced Placement (AP) and 32 honors courses. In September 2009, the school was designated a Blue Ribbon school by the U.S. Department of Education.
