Saint John Vianney Center, a premier behavioral health treatment and education center for clergy and religious, located in Downingtown, PA, is seeking a Pool Registered Nurse (RN) for the 11:00 PM to 7:30 AM shift. For almost 80 years, SJVC has been committed to their mission of helping distressed religious and clergy to heal and be restored to ministry.
Job Summary: As a Registered Nurse in a behavioral health setting, you will be responsible for providing compassionate and specialized care to individuals experiencing mental health challenges. Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for patients with psychiatric and behavioral disorders. Your role involves collaborating with psychiatrists, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to promote the overall mental health and recovery of patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assessment of Diagnosis-
- Conduct thorough assessments of patients’ mental health status.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to formulate accurate diagnoses.
- Treatment planning-
- Develop and implement individualized care plans based on patient assessments.
- Coordinate and participate in therapeutic interventions and treatment modalities.
- Medication Management-
- Administer and monitor medications as prescribed.
- Educate patients and their medications, potential side effects, and adherence.
- Therapeutic Communication-
- Establish and maintain therapeutic relationships with patients.
- Use effective communication skills to de-escalate challenging situations.
- Patient and Family Education-
- Provide education on mental health conditions, coping strategies, and wellness.
- Collaborate with families to support their understanding and involvement in the treatment process.
- Crisis Intervention-
- Respond to crisis situations and provide immediate interventions.
- Documentation-
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes.
- Adhere to legal and ethical standards in documentation.
- Collaboration-
- Work collaboratively with the clinical treatment team.
- Participate in team meetings and case conferences.
- Quality Improvement-
- Contribute to quality improvement initiatives in the Center.
- Stay informed about best practices and evidence-based interventions in psychiatric nursing.
Qualifications:
- Current unencumbered RN license to practice in the Commonwealth of PA. Must be a graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Certification in psychiatric-mental health nursing (PMHN) is a plus.
- Experience in behavioral health or psychiatric nursing.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
