Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and creative Activities Director to join our team at Saint John 23rd Home. This position is responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing engaging recreational and therapeutic activities for our residents, enriching their daily lives and enhancing their overall well-being. As the Activities Director, you will lead a team of assistants, develop individualized programs, and work closely with other departments to ensure our residents have opportunities for socialization, physical exercise, and mental stimulation.
Responsibilities
- Plan, develop, and oversee a variety of resident-centered activities, including physical, social, cultural, and educational events.
- Assess resident needs and preferences, tailoring programs accordingly to enhance their quality of life.
- Coordinate group activities, outings, and special events.
- Foster a positive, engaging environment to encourage resident participation.
- Work collaboratively with the nursing staff and other departments to ensure a holistic care approach.
- Maintain accurate records of residents' participation, preferences, and progress.
- Ensure compliance with state regulations and company policies related to activities programming.
- Supervise and train activity assistants and volunteers.
- Provide regular reports on activity program effectiveness to management.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role, preferably within a long-term care or skilled nursing setting.
- Certification as a Recreational Therapist (preferred).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a passion for working with seniors.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Organizational skills and attention to detail.
- A positive, enthusiastic attitude and a genuine desire to improve the lives of residents.
