Saint John’s Program for Real Change mission is to provide a safe space for women and children to heal and develop the skills necessary to transform their lives. We accomplish our mission by holding to our vision to end the generational cycle of trauma and homelessness.

 

We operate the largest residential program for formerly homeless women and children in the Sacramento region providing services 24 hours/day, 365 days/year, offering shelter, meals, childcare, and comprehensive support services, including Behavioral Health Services, Hands-on Employment Training, Career Education, and Family Services.

TITLE                          Director of Behavioral Health              

SALARY                      From $100,000 To $110,000 Annually

CLASSIFICATION       Full-Time, Exempt

LOCATION                  On Site Only – Jackson Rd. Sacramento, CA

SCHEDULE                 Monday- Friday, 9:00 am to 5:30 pm

 

About the Position…

The Director of Behavioral Health works under the supervision of the Chief Program Officer to support the vision and mission of Saint John’s Program. As Director of Behavioral Health you will be responsible for the oversight of operations, clinical services, and activities related to adult, child, and family clientele.

 

You’ll be responsible for…

Clinical Operations:

  • Designing, developing, implementing and maintaining the clinical component of the program, insuring practices are trauma informed and reflective of current evidenced based practices.
  • Developing, evaluating and coordinating effective and efficient service delivery supporting adults, children, and families to achieve self-sufficiency.
  • Delivering clinical leadership, staff management and organizational strategy.
  • Facilitating clinical discussions informing treatment at team meetings, individual and group supervision, and ongoing clinical trainings. 
  • Conducting weekly clinical supervision of clinical staff.
  • Providing mental health assessments, appropriate mental health diagnoses and developing clinical treatment plans. 
  • Assigning caseloads to ensure all clients and families receive therapeutic services, while maximizing the clinical team’s potential to maintain or increase capacity.
  • Establishing and maintaining effective individual and group relationships with clients, volunteers, donors, the public, and employees.  
  • Providing program and case management consultation to other staff members.  

Management and Organizational Operations:

  • Working in partnership with the CPO to implement departmental coordination, integration, and delivery of all programs, contracts and related services, promoting collaborative relationships between program areas and ensuring that the expectations of funders, partners, constituents, clients, and other stakeholders are consistently met. 
  • Implementing strategic plans, departmental and staff goals, new initiatives and objectives and tracking results against these goals as well as accountability protocols. 
  • Responding to government and foundation requests for proposals and applications in partnership with development and senior staff; coordinating planning and activities necessary for development of model program designs in response to RFPs and RFAs. 
  • Serving as liaison to key agencies. 
  • Deploying continuous improvement through program quality evaluation, metrics, and prioritization. 
  • Managing and mentoring department teams and team members as assigned (e.g. Intake, Respite, Aftercare). 
  • Assisting with recruitment, screening, hiring, onboarding, performance evaluations, supervision, and terminations of all clinical, children’s program, and family services staff. 

 

You must have...

  • Master's Degree
  • 2 years post-licensure pertinent experience in social services, with an emphasis on program development, supervision, case management, individual and/or group counseling; or any combination of education, training, and experience, which would provide the knowledge and ability to complete the duties outlined above.
  • 5 years of leadership experience in a nonprofit, government, or healthcare setting, overseeing programs or contracts at an organization serving vulnerable populations. 
  • Fluency in English language (spoken and written)
  • Proficiency in knowledge of email, copiers, and internet
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite
  • An incredible passion for our mission
  • Advanced knowledge of mental health counseling principles, practices, therapeutic methods, and techniques. 
  • Required License/ Certifications: Psychologist, Clinical Social Worker, Marriage and Family Therapist or Professional Clinical Counselor       

 

Physical Requirements

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The physical requirements for performing the essential functions of this position require the employee to be able to:

  • Standing/walking approximately 20% and sitting 80% of the time
  • Close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to hear and respond to simple and sometimes critical messages exchanged in noisy/high traffic areas.
  • Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
