Job Summary
The Emergency Department Nursing Supervisor supports the Manager, nursing staff, and healthcare team by coordinating patient care, serving as a clinical resource, and ensuring high standards of nursing practice. This role encompasses clinical leadership, education, administration, and research to support safe, ethical, and effective patient care. This position works evenings with one weekend shift required per month and possibly one evening shift per month.
Key Responsibilities

Clinical Leadership:
Supports RNs in care planning, decision-making, and collaboration with patients, families, and the healthcare team. Acts as a resource for clinical questions and judgment calls. Helps implement and evaluate nursing care plans. -
Education:
Participates in staff and patient education. Supports continuous learning for self and team. Collaborates with educators and clinical specialists to meet educational needs. -
Administration:
Assists in staffing, scheduling, and unit operations. Acts as a liaison between staff and leadership. Participates in performance evaluations and problem-solving. May take patient assignments as needed. -
Research & Quality:
Keeps current with nursing research and quality standards. Supports implementation of relevant studies and quality improvement initiatives. -
HR Involvement:
May participate in hiring, performance management, and other HR-related tasks.
Required Qualifications
Education: Graduate of an approved school of nursing. Bachelor of Nursing Degree preferred.
Licensure: RN Indiana License. BLS certification.
Experience: 3-5 years previous experience in clinical leadership role preferred.
