Saint Joseph's College of Maine invites applications for the position of Club Coach - Soccer.
POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Club Coach supports the department of Athletics by providing leadership and team management; managing sport program development and performance; ensuring athletic department collaboration and compliance; and fostering community engagement and promotion.
Provides Leadership and Team Management by:
- Leading all aspects of the sport program, including coaching, training, and game strategy, ensuring alignment with college and NCAA
- Developing, implementing, and evaluating practice plans that foster the athletic development of each player while building team chemistry
- Mentoring, supporting, and evaluating student-athletes in both their athletic and academic endeavors
- Overseeing recruitment efforts for prospective players, engaging with high schools, community programs, and recruiting events
- Managing the scheduling of practices, games, and team events in coordination with Athletic Department personnel
- Ensuring a positive team culture that values respect, discipline, and inclusivity
- Regularly meeting with athletes to discuss progress, performance, and goals for development
- Supervising assistant coaches, providing guidance and constructive feedback to support their professional growth
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree is required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum of 5 years of coaching experience at the collegiate level or a comparable competitive environment
- National coaching certification (sport specific or equivalent) preferred
- CPR/First Aid certification required

- Demonstrated commitment to promoting student-athletes’ academic, athletic, and personal success
- In-depth knowledge of the sport techniques, strategies, and rules at the collegiate level
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop student-athletes
- Ability to support and strengthen the mission of Saint Joseph’s College
- Ability to manage and organize multiple tasks and priorities effectively
- Strong interpersonal skills, with a commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive, and supportive team environment
- Computer competence in word processing, database management and electronic mail
- Must demonstrate teamwork skills and a willingness to help others
- Posses a positive attitude to foster a cohesive working environment
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion in handling sensitive situations
- Tolerates work related stress effectively and maintains self-control/professionalism
