Saint Joseph’s College of Maine is hiring for the full-time position of Director of Athletics and Recreation.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree is required; Master’s degree in athletic administration or related field is preferred.
- 5 – 8 or more years of relevant and progressive administrative and leadership experience in intercollegiate or professional athletics; Prior coaching experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Knowledge of and commitment to the College Mission, Core Values and the Catholic, Mercy tradition with an appreciation and respect for the liberal arts education
- Knowledge of NCAA DIII athletics and its rules and regulations
- Visionary leadership and managerial skills to support the student-athlete and campus recreation experience
- Skilled at managing complex and highly visible athletic and active recreational programs
- Proven ability to lead seasoned professionals as well as less experienced staff
- Ability to develop long range strategic plans for athletic programs and athletic facilities
- Demonstrated ability to foster an environment of diversity, equity and inclusion
- Proven ability to fundraise, generate revenue, and promote capital campaigns
- Financial acumen skills to develop and manage a large operating budget
- Proven training, coaching and mentoring abilities
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, analytical and problem solving skills
- Proven ability to collaborate to foster and maintain effective working relationships with a variety people
- Ability to be confident, humble, accountable and transparent
- Strong verbal and written communication skills as well as outstanding interpersonal skills are also needed.
- Effective presentation skills and speaking to large audiences
- Computer competence in word processing, powerpoint presentations, database management and electronic mail
- Strong work ethic
- Availability for a flexible schedule and the ability to travel
- Must be adaptable, creative and be able to handle many projects at once
- Knowledge of general office operations
