The Department of Art and Art History invites applications for an Adjunct Professor in Painting/Drawing. This position is responsible for teaching undergraduate courses in painting and drawing, fostering a dynamic and inclusive learning environment, and encouraging students to develop technical skills, conceptual approaches, and personal artistic expression.Responsibilities:
- Teach one/two course(s) per semester in painting and/or drawing, ranging from introductory to advanced levels.
- Develop and implement engaging, student-centered curricula that integrate contemporary and historical approaches to painting and drawing.
- Provide guidance and constructive critique to students to support artistic growth and technical proficiency.
- Maintain an inclusive and supportive classroom environment that encourages diverse perspectives and artistic experimentation.
- Participate in departmental critiques, exhibitions, or student portfolio reviews, as appropriate.
- Adhere to institutional policies and deadlines related to course management, grading, and student communication.
Qualifications:
- MFA or equivalent terminal degree in Painting, Drawing, or a related field.
- College-level teaching experience preferred.
- Active professional practice in painting, drawing, or related media.
- Strong knowledge of traditional and contemporary approaches to painting and drawing.
- Commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive learning environment.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
